Fix common issues
Find the message or symptom you see, then follow the fix.
Scanning and committing
The scanner doesn’t add products. Click Start scanning so the field is focused, and check that Hardware Scanner is selected. Your scanner should send Enter after each barcode; most do by default.
The camera doesn’t open. In the admin, camera scanning works best in the Shopify mobile app. On a computer, use a hardware scanner or Manual Select.
You have reached the limit of 30 products for your current plan. The session holds as many different products as your plan allows (30 on Free, 1,000 on Professional). Upgrade from Billing, or split the work into more sessions.
This barcode scan has already run or is running. The session was already committed, or a commit is still going (for example from another tab). It isn’t sent twice. Check its status in History sessions.
The last run did not finish. Shopify rejected part of the update; the reason is shown below the message. Check the products and location, for example that each product is stocked at that location, then commit again.
Stock didn’t change after committing. Check that you clicked Commit Inventory Update (Save keeps a draft only), that the right location was selected, and that the product is stocked at that location in Shopify.
Worker links
A worker sees “This link is no longer active”. The link expired, was revoked or replaced, or the session was committed. Create a new link on the Worker scans tab.
Workers’ counts weren’t included. Counts are sent only after Apply to scan list. If the card shows Not applied, apply, check Scan details, then commit.
A worker sees “Product limit reached for this plan. Ask the store owner to upgrade.” Your products and the workers’ count together toward the plan’s limit.
A worker’s scans are “waiting to be sent”. Their device lost its connection. Scans are kept and sent automatically when it reconnects; they should keep the page open.
Labels and imports
Labels print misaligned. Check the template’s label stock matches the labels in the printer, and print at 100% scale with “fit to page” turned off.
This file is not valid UTF-8 text. Save the file as CSV UTF-8 and upload it again.
This file has 3000 rows; the limit is 2500. Split the file and import each part.
Barcodes lost their leading zeros or show as 7.04E+12. Format the newBarcode column as Text in Excel and re-enter the values. If a wrong value was applied, undo the batch from Barcode Labels → History.
